March 2016. The Argentine Embassy hosted a lunch on March 29 to mark the 40th anniversary of the coup d’etat that was staged in Argentina on March 24, 1976, which led to a period of military rule that lasted until 1983.
Officials from the Vietnamese Communist Party and government attended the gathering, as well as representatives of the press and Heads of Mission from other international organizations based in Hanoi.
At the lunch Argentine Ambassador Claudio Gutiérrez delivered a speech that highlighted the importance that the Argentine society attachs to this date and the broad consensus among Argentines towards the still ongoing trial and the conviction of those responsible for the human rights violations that took place during the dictatorship.
