September 2014. From September 8-12, Hernán Ferrari and Marcelo Cardozo -two experts from Argentina’s National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA)- started a new FO.AR cooperation project in Vietnam. The activities were carried out at the Vietnamese National Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology (VIAEP) under the Ministry of Agricultura and Rural Development (MARD), with the support of the Argentine Embassy.
The Argentine experts visited companies in charge of the processing and storage of rice and maize after harvest, and later gave their Vietnamese counterparts an insight into the benefits of the silo bag, a novel technique for post harvest storage that has been implemented in Argentina since 2000.
Named FO.AR 6318, this project seeks to train Vietnamese experts on new techniques in the field of agricultural engineering leading to a lengthy storage of the harvest, which in turn will help prevent post harvest losses.
